It's great to see the work that the US, aka "The Great Satan" does in assisting with disaster relief. It's amazing how often it seems to be the nasty, colonialist powers of the US, UK, and in our region Australia, doing most of the heavy lifting and providing most of the aid when things go wrong in poorer countries. Where are those countries that seem to constantly bag the US and it's close allies?
I work with two gentlemen from Nepal. They have both lost contact with members of their families—not a surprise considering—and are devastated. Our small group of engineers has pulled together to support them with prayers and funds. When I told them about the Green Berets being there and helping, Gokul actually cried, and said that he felt such gratitude for even the smallest bit of professional help. There are a lot of people who are very willing to help, but few who are actually trained to do so. Sometimes, De Oppresso Liber means something slightly different than it usually does, but it always means honor. On behalf of Madhu and Gokul, I thank these honorable men.
. ...Good news, Marines trained in Nepal two years ago for just this. Bad news, airport too jammed up to get them in for now... . http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-marines-trained-for-nepal-quake-disaster-now-awaiting-orders-to-go-1430322663 . -YP-
Minor confusion as 1st Group has one battalion in Oki and the rest at JBLM.
jpnjoe Now I'm confused. I live near JBLM and the local newspaper had this information on the front page yesterday, stating that the 26 were stationed at JBLM. I don't doubt what you are saying, I'm just surprised the newspaper got it so wrong as that kind of info usually comes directly from JBLM.
