Tasking

Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC) train, organize, equip and deploy task organized, scalable and responsive Marine Corps special operations forces worldwide in support of combatant commanders and other agencies.

History & Heritage

Its creation was announced on 23 November 2005 by US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, following a meeting between him, the USSOCOM commander General Bryan D. Brown, and the Marine Corps Commandant General Michael Hagee on 28 October 2005. MARSOC was officially activated on 24 February 2006 with ceremonies at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

is poised to publish the first book detailing experiences of Marine special operators in Afghanistan. And unlike career writers who drop into an outpost for a quick embed, Golembesky was there, as a member of Marine Special Operations Team 8222 during one of its hardest deployments. He plans to tell the team’s story through the words of the operators on the ground. The working title is “Level Zero Heroes.”

Great Article! I was glad to see this unit sent over to Europe after Libya/Benghazi. Although they have been undergoing growing pains, I expect nothing less than a continued advancement towards excellence from MARSOC. At corps school you check in with our senior enlisted leader, there you will start the process. from insert to extract you are under constant surveillance. (remember that) best of luck to you bro. Just keep the answer to your question short and simple (only bc Ive flapped my hole on this thread way to much) the msot has 14 organic members 12 cso's and 2 sarc's/soidc's. one junior one senior. almost identical to an sfoda. not a bad gig.

Great article marine- quick question about SARCs that i can't seem to find anywhere ( and i've been looking since i heard of the SARC billet) Are they considered CSO's (crit. skills operator) in regards to their duration in the teams and training? I've heard (and have seen on marine websites) pictures of SARCs in positions above marines, such as divemaster and even being sent to sniper school because they could. Any help would be much appreciated.

SCDZ I would just like to say your posts are very informative and helpful. I've read alto about the job but to directly about it has cleared up a lot of confusion and questions about the current state of this field. I am leaving mid-august for boot camp and then corpschool and was hoping to pursue a career as a SARC.
