rawley15 While I realize you are posting on this article a year later, using hindsight 20-20; may I remind you that the white widow, AQ in Iraq as well Al-Shabaab and for that matter al-Haqqani and other cells do not make an approved move without the consent/blessing of the top leaders portrayed in the poster that this author has produced. Every cell, every lone wolf and every convert to global Jihad poses an extreme risk. I do not believe the author underestimated several groups; but rather made a tongue in cheek remark.
While I do realize this article was posted in 2012, it was incorrect of the author to underestimate Al-Qaeda in Iraq and al-Shabaab. AQI still poses a big threat in Iraq and is also gaining influence quickly in Syria. Al-Shabaab and the Kenyan mall, enough said there.
NicholasP The Doctor is alive and well. He is still HVT-#1. US has a kill order and a 25 million dollar tag on his head. Last month, he turned up in an intelligence transmission -hence the closing of 19 embassies. 3 days ago- this audio was posted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tLR-8iLGmk There is allot of mention of The Doctor, everywhere. He is being hunted. Any rumors as to his movements- can be pinpointed in open source videos he shows up in. As far as locale, if we know, it is classified. He may not get the attention of UBL, but many believe he has always been #1 in AQ. One reason analysts give on open source that he does not get the same attention as UBL, is that he is not as charismatic nor is a "great messenger". I disagree. I look at the amount of strife being caused by Global Jihad in 60+ different Countries and I believe he is a highly effective leader. His call for "blood" 3 days ago- I believe will initiate cells to act on US soil. Some others, do not agree with me.
It disturbs me that there is very little mention of Al Zawihiri nor his possible whereabouts. One get's the sense that we took the foot off the pedal once UBL was killed. Al Zawihiri just doesn't seem to get the attention like UBL did. Any rumors to his movements and locale?
