Watch: Astronaut’s GoPro shows the moment he exits the ISS and enters space

In many ways, the introduction of small, portable cameras like the GoPro has changed the way the world is able to participate in extraordinary circumstances. From extreme sports to combat footage, the influx of lightweight and resilient cameras in the commercial market has been it possible for us to see incredible things from the comfort of our own homes – and now, that includes the most extreme of environments, outer space.

In this video uploaded to Twitter by NASA Astronaut Joe Acaba, you get a front row seat for one of the most incredible views ever experienced by mankind: his first steps out of the International Space Station and into the great beyond.

Climbing out of a spacecraft orbiting the earth at 17,000mph and seeing this massive vibrant blue ball absolutely dwarfing you with the vastness of the universe in the background seems to be equal parts deeply trainquil, and extremely terrifying

I can only imagine the training these guys and gals go through to be able to safely step out into that part of the universe. They make it look as easy as getting out of my truck at home!!!

I got queezy just watching that. I can’t imagine what it must be like. I did find it funny...that’s the first time I’ve seen someone hook-up AFTER exiting an aircraft. Haha.

Absolutely amazing, but, it has to be fake because you can see the curvature of the Earth and we all know the Earth is flat, right?!! Bwahahahahaha!!! ;-)
