Tuesday, the USN 7th Fleet Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, the USS Antietam (CG-54), ran aground off the Japanese coast. No one was hurt. More than 1,000 gallons of oil were lost in the drink, though.
The ship, commanded by Captain Joseph Carrigan, anchored in high winds near Yokosuka (its port). The ship drug anchor. As the crew got the ship underway, they lost pitch control in both props. The Antietam was towed back to port afterwards.
Clean up and ass chewings are currently in progress.
For what it’s worth, this cruiser is essential to the anti-aircraft operations for 7th Fleet’s carrier battle group, led by the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan…which is essential to the anti-Chinese bullshit operations for that entire zone of the western Pacific. So I, for one, certainly hope our opposition in that AO doesn’t make their fake islands too invisible. That would be some Sea Sapper TTPs, right there…
The J-gov hasn’t really responded with anything other than confirmation.

Hoping that somewhere there are still really smart, really hardworking people who remember how things are supposed to be done in the Navy, because all of this looks so very, very far from "ship-shape."
yay I am special !!!!
Hahaha...and yet your grammar and spelling are exemplary. Well done. You may now progress on to Asian languages with impunity. ;)

Oooh...yeah, all those missing fuel rods could be radioactively repelling...water. I heard they finally found a black lump of melted fuel under one of the damaged reactors. Makes me wonder what they do with that stuff in a small island like Japan. Do they have a space to store spent fuel for 50,000 or so years? (Or maybe they just bury it in the bay to trip unsuspecting ships...) (That spelling thing seems to be true of all romanization of Asian languages. I guess as long as it "sounds" the same anything goes? Dem's inur city ghetto rulz, 2.)
