An AMU rifle would be nice - as I recall the DCMP would auction off some of the really nice Garands, if some of the AMU Remington 700's would go for some serious$ If they come up for sale. There should be a process for veterans to buy weapons they deployed with like an M40 or M9 if they come up for sale to the public.
What about all of the really unique AMU rifles that were built over the years? For example, those Win model 64's in 300 AMU (boosted up 300 Win Mag) or the various intermediate cartridges that were tested.
Yeah, hard to get excited over an M9 unless a free one for trade in on something desirable..but I guess these younger warriors have some nostalgia working on them, and that I understand! Maybe CMP has some M1903-03A3s stashed.... :-)
I wouldn't mind having an old 1911, I'll pass on the M9.
OK guys, to me getting an M9 would be far down the list from what could be available soon lets see.... a vintage 1911, a S&W model 15 from the USAF or how about a SIG 226 from navy/USAF. From what has been reported there is some push back due to the way DCMP can ship directly to the purchaser without going through an FFL making these weapons "untraceable". Maybe they can give the DCMP an FFL to silence the anti gun whiners. Taking this a step further how about Vietnam era m16 uppers? The pre 64 model 70 30/06 target rifles we had? There could be a lot of really cool stuff available if this happens - a much better fate for this material as well as recouping some serious taxpayer dollars.
