Even though it was a dark, leftist, anti-war fairytale, Green Berets have a special place in their hearts for the film Apocalypse Now. This Todd Graham merger of Apocalypse and Pooh provides the perfect touch of the absurd.
"Walt Kurtz was one of the most outstanding officers this country has ever produced. He was a brilliant and outstanding in every way and he was a good man, too. Humanitarian man, man of wit, of humor. He joined the Special Forces. After that, his ideas, methods have become unsound... Unsound." Brilliant script...

Mr. Miller, I had to analyze this film for a writing class and I felt it was leftist anti-war bullshit myself. However, I took the time to frame by frame rewrite a lot of Kurt'z dossier, and what I found was amazing. It just called out built up fobs, overly bureaucratic decision making, and the politicization of intelligence among other things. It appears that core of the film is actually that Col. Kurtz was responsible for leaking to the Times that the President had ignored the CIA's intelligence of the Tet Offensive in favor of painting a more successful public picture of the current enemy forces, which is of course based on historical fact. That dossier portion helped make sense of Kurtz making Willard read the paper in his shipping container captivity, for it was the reason that Kurtz was to be assassinated.

Minou_Demimonde YankeePapa , . ...Of course if you don't care for a writer's style then it is like pulling teeth to have to read it. I will say that for a writer who reached adulthood before leaning English that his command of it is excellent. . ...On the other hand, the worst (well-paid) writer whose original language is English would be William Shatner... . -YP-
clluelo CarpeNoctem Who came to hate his father. I’m not sure I blame him, on the whole. Poor Chris Milne, whom everybody in the world knew was Christopher Robin. But he was sure adorable when he was a boy.
