I forgot those guys… glorified ticket writers.. ?? When I started we had to pull over and write down our calls on a notepad, and then had to know where we we were going. When I retired we had MDT’s and GPS… now they added video dash cams, body cams, and BP vest coolers. Oh, and sensitivity training. ? ??
In my day we had Motor Officers and others………
Why are there so many Special Ops units? Before I retired from the PD we had a bunch of units in our county. SWAT, SERT, SORT, Riot Team, Bomb Team, Cell Extraction Team, Crime Scene Teams, Parole Task Force, Probation Task Force, Gang Task Force, and probably a few more. Everybody had some training in all of these areas, except the Bomb Guys, and SWAT. I’m not sure how many elite military units there are, but could they be condensed? Everybody in the loop?
