We conformal coated PCBs back in the 1980s to resist moisture and dust on both commercial and military gear; so the practice has been around for a while.
That’s why US Navy AEGIS Cruisers equipped with SM-3 Block II are gonna be critical in filling gap, can be on station in a crisis.. https://news.usni.org/2017/02/06/standard-missile-3-block-iia-intercepts-target-in-space-for-first-time
We Hillbillies paid no attention to that “duck and cover” shit.. being pragmatic and fearless Scots-Irish, we spent our time securing our wooded hills of Krauts and Japs, just like our fathers and uncles had.. we were clueless tho of the North Korean threat for some years, as they got little recognition being a SMALL police action, not unlike the one steamrolling right down our 12 o’clock. Well, by God, most of us made the cut and many are still standing guard against all threats, foreign and domestic. Now, where is my next cup of BLACK RIFLE COFFEE!!??!!

Submarine, cruise and bomber delivery cannot be compromised by something as simple as an individual shooting an ICBM with small arms as it exits its launch tube. Maybe using a weapon like a surplus $100.00 mosin nagant loaded with AP bullets? Any time you have a missile based nuclear asset in a known location it is relatively easy to disrupt its launch.
