Special Operations Command developing next generation of vertical lift aircraft

Washington, D.C. – Special Operations Command is looking ahead to build its next generation of vertical lift aircraft.

Army Col. David Phillips, director of Rotary Wing at SOCOM, told a Center for Strategic and International Studies forum on the future vertical lift the command and military services hope to have the aircraft ready in about 25 years.

    Great. Another aircraft to give me nightmares. I’d be lying a little if the Osprey coming on-line wasn’t a factor in my decision to separate from the military.

    All of the military services and SOCOM will contribute to the development of FVL. However it’s going to be the Big Army that truly leads the efforts, not SOCOM.
