Those platforms can absolutely be used to clean up debris – but we’re still a long way off from finding a truly cost effective solution (sort of like the Pacific garbage patch… lots of good ideas, just a matter of finding one that works without bankrupting the effort).

really – every time any country “demonstrates” or tests the anti satelite they put enough garbage into orbit to do serious damage to anything else passing through near space or in orbit. Its only a matter of time before a tradgedy occurs.
So what about the net throwing satellites you discussed in another article, to clean things up . . . for real. Not as offensive weapons, but to actually clear out the garbage that threatens our stuff?
