NEWSREP State of the Union

Recently, we’ve experienced some staff changes at NEWSREP that resulted in a bit of consternation among readers, which is understandable.  Unfortunately, sometimes decisions have to be made for business purposes.

However, the site has nominally been run with a staff of five-to-seven writers, and this will continue to be the case this month, featuring articles from me, Nick Coffman, Stavros Atlamazoglou, Joe LaFave, and Greg Walker. Longtime NEWSREP writer Alex Hollings will contribute on occasion, but is busy at our sister site, Loadout Room. We’ll also be looking at taking more freelance contributions in the near future.

    Understood, but I am here, and most folks I have befriended here are here BECAUSE you are a military site. You have my support, but I am gobsmacked by the recent changes. I see the changes as trying to “soften” SOFREP image, or go more centrist, or even MSM – which is disappointing. The fact you got deleted on Instagram is a good thing, it is why I am a consumer of information here, not just another MSM regurgitation machine+. Losing content writers like Geo, Jamie, Luke, Theo, Fru, Ahmed, Vasilis, Joey, Baba Tim, is mystifying to say the least. I am just some $9/month subscriber, in a sea of subscribers, ultimately I am nothing to the Hurricane Group, business is business. I get that, but at some point, the folks who drive your business inside or out are your greatest asset. Not reciting some trope, that I know you have heard a million times and are aware of, more reflecting myself on the changes here, and I wonder what the overall game plan is? Again, not my lane, just some $9/month desk jockey with a keyboard in front of me and my input is meaningless to a business. Like all things, this will die down, new folks will come, new writers will flex, and things will move on. I think this place had something for awhile that was truly unique, at least in my limited experience. It is missed, but I guess 5 years from now, no one will even know.
