Oh, of course! Apologies to the Taiwanese – I wasn’t thinking of them as “Chinese”, just “Taiwanese”. Thank you for the education!
Susan,
The Nationalist Chinese on Taiwan would be greatly discouraged to know that you believe that…
There are 23.57 million Nationalist Chinese (as opposed to 24.77 million Australians…) Mainland China considers them a “province in rebellion” since 1949… and may invade someday…

What a great article about a great man and warrior. Thank you.
Thank you, YP. Why “Red” Chinese and not just Chinese? Weren’t/aren’t all Chinese “Red”, or at least since the middle of the 20th century?
Bull Simons never aspired to be a general officer. I still have an old SOF magazine with his eulogy, and recall the stories of his exploits as a warrior and true leader of good men. He, Cols David Hackworth, John Hayes and Charlie Beckwith ,LTG Hal Moore and many others inspired many of us baby boomers to be all we could be, and God what a rush to be in such company. GREAT ARTICLE!!! Thanks for the memories.
