“Big Mountain Heroes” is the story of five United States Special Operations veterans on their journey into the French, Italian and Swiss Alps –connecting with nature and each other in the pursuit of thrills without pills–finding new ways to channel their sense of adventure into a more productive form of PTSD therapy.
SOFREP TV chronicles these men as they travel from various corners of America to the slopes of Chamonix, forging new friendships while tackling some of the most beautiful and challenging mountainous terrain in the world.
“Everyone has challenges…our solution is to try and inspire people on a personal level.”
This is your chance to go beyond the mountain and behind the scenes with Neil Amonson, Leo Jenkins and Isiah Burkhart as they take on Q&A about their motivations, how cathartic it was to be with other people who have lived through the same experiences and similar traumas, and the importance of reconnecting to the veteran community.
Hear the team’s thoughts on how they approach their pain without pills. “I self-medicate every single day – I just choose to do so with something that I feel is more sustainable – with surfing, with climbing, these types of things…a lot of people have traumatic instances in their life. How we choose to respond to those is what’s important.” ~Leo Jenkins
There’s also a lighthearted look behind the scenes as Neil tells the story of Leo shimmying up an icy drain pipe in the middle of the night — in his bare feet.
Feel free to put your feet up, SOFREP nation, and spend just a little more time getting to know our Big Mountain Heroes.
