I have several friends that are police officers. For most of them, joining law enforcement was a natural step after leaving the military. These men and women range from all backgrounds and ethnicities. All lives matter, right?
Tuesday, I watched President Obama award 13 law enforcement officers with the Medal of Valor. Along with the Congressional Gold Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, this is the highest honor one can receive in the public service arena. As the president read each citation, I was reminded of the sacrifices these men and women make every day. Coming home is the end goal, but even that is never a certainty.
I have posted the video below as a reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers are subjected to daily. This video contains images that may not be suitable for all viewers. Viewer discretion is advised. Thanks for reading and be safe!
